In 2015 the two WCE campus-based staff working in Yirrkala were invited by the school to be part of the open day at the school and attend the Garma Festival. In 2016 WCE staff were involved in an exhibition stall. One of the WCE activities at the Garma Festival where CDU held an Exhibition booth, the team were encouraging students to draw their dreams on calico fabric. It was to inspire the students to envision their dreams after they completed school. Due to the excitement of this activity, the CDU exhibition stall was very popular.
Amelia Haley, an Indigenous CDU student currently studying towards a Bachelor of Education, visited the Yirrkala School and assisted with the Garma Festival activities alongside Yalmay Yunupingu and Bronwyn Rossingh who were also participating in the festival.
